The turquoise cover caught my eye at the bottom of a plastic bin as I walked by. The Fate of the Earth by Jonathan Schell was in the “give away” bins by my studio. Barely held together at the seams, it had that old book smell. I took it with me on my way. Flipping through, falling apart, the terms in the index fell together in such a way that, it seemed, to provide the tools that could formulate a solution to determine the fate of the earth.
